about

This is my response to my Grammy calling me a Vagabond and wanting me to settle down and find a Church and job security....

lyrics

What if I were to go to Church?
Put on dress shoes and a skirt,
fancy hat and underwear.
Do you think that God would care?
What if I were to find a man
with no tattoos or a band
and he asked me to marry him legally?
Would that then legitimize me?
Grammy?
What if I were to go to school,
learned to follow all the rules,
graduated with a degree,
started shaving regularly,
raised up some kids of my own,
kept up a spic n span home,
learned how to bake like every real woman should?
You're praying while you're knockin' on wood.
God is Good.
99 and still going strong.
You never thought you'd live this long,
but the Lord's got a plan for you,
to make sure I take the path of the few.
So you're sticking around 'till I see
that the Lord's got a plan for me.
Not checking out 'till I believe.
So I guess your life depends on me.
No more blasphemy.
So I hear those church bells ring
and the neighborhood baptists sing
but if walking through the door means you can finally die
I'll stay right here and keep you alive.
Cuz my front stoop's got it's own pew
and my six string bible will do.
The kitty sounds like god when she purrs
so I'll sing my hymns to her.
Love you, Grandmother!
